I recently met a very interesting cartoon: He's a self-proclaimed blue-collar, Irish mafia chap from Boston, who can talk about anything to anyone. Exceptionally likeable, honest--maybe too honest at times--and offended by my assessment of him as a frat boy. Sorry, man! It only has to make sense to me. He's definitely a cartoon, with big blue eyes that are almost too pretty for a boy, and a quick-to-appear smile. In fact, his entire life is belongs in a comic strip. He may even be a super hero.
ReplyDeleteI saw a brilliant cartoon yesterday in the French Quarter outside of Cafe du Monde: It's the ballon man. There he was, his red baseball cap topped off with one of his own creations-- a candy-cane hat that stood about 4 feet high--choosing his patrons with an intuitive twinkle in his dark, hollowed eyes. He reminded me of a character out of Dr. Suess. His thin build was emphasized by his baggy jeans. His hands and arms were looked surprisingly strong, suggesting a past of dedicated labor next to the bicycle horn attached to his satchel, and the colorful rubber of uninflated baloons peeking out of the top.
